1. Will I get a bill for calling 911?

No! Cocoa Fire Rescue Department will NEVER send you a bill. You will however receive a bill from BCFR if you are transported in an ambulance.

2. Can I do a ride along?

Please contact the Fire Department to discuss eligibility.

3. Can I burn trash in the City of Cocoa?

No - open burning of any type is not allowed in the city limits of Cocoa

4. How do I become a Cocoa Firefighter?

You must be state certified as a firefighter/EMT or firefighter/Paramedic. Please contact our Human Resources Department at cocoafl.org to apply.

5. Do you have volunteer firefighters?

We do not have volunteers, Cocoa Fire Rescue Dept has 43 full-time firefighters

6. Can I get a tour of a Cocoa fire station?

Yes! We are more than happy to show off our new stations, engines, trucks and squad. We give tours at all 3 Cocoa Fire Stations. Please call 321-639-7613 to arrange your tour.

7. Why does a fire truck come when I call for an ambulance?

Cocoa Fire Rescue Department responds to all requests in the city for medical assistance. We are equipped to provide medical services until a county ambulance arrives. In most cases the fire truck can arrive minutes before the ambulance.
