The family of Rosa L. Jones has been working hard to create a mural installation in the City of Cocoa remembering and honoring the dynamic and inspirational woman that Rosa L. Jones was in the Cocoa community. The family is working with a local builder and artist to create the mural installation at the traffic circle in the intersection of John Garren and Rosa L Jones Blvd. in Cocoa Village, which will be installed and revealed on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10am. The family raised over $10,000 to complete this project which was approved by Cocoa City Council in June to be placed at the traffic circle. The installation will be a tribute to the life of Rosa L. Jones who was writer for the first black newspaper in Cocoa, radio broadcaster, philanthropist, preschool owner and community activist who was a part of the civil rights movement along with Harry T. Moore. A number of Rosa L. Jones’ family members will be in attendance for the unveiling ceremony in August. The public is invited and welcome to attend. The family is still raising funds for the project through a GoFundMe page.
